Environmental Career Panel

ELS will hold an environmental career panel, with environmental attorneys from defense and plaintiff firms, and public agencies, in October, 2009. Stay tuned to this page for details!

Workshop on Land Use and Global Warming Law

On Saturday, Mar. 22, 2008, the ELS, together with the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter Conservation Legal Committee presented a day-long workshop on the law of land use and global warming. Recordings of the sessions, slides and handouts are available online.

ELS may sponsor another similar workshop in the spring of 2009.

Practical Environmental Law Experience

An active environmental attorney with offices near Loyola Law School needs volunteer help with cases. If you are willing to work 5 hours per week or more pro bono, between mid-January and the end of April, you can get practical experience in environmental law. If you're interested, email Dean Wallraff, who is coordinating this project. If you're a 2L or 3L, externship credit can be arranged. Alternatively, if you're a 2L, the work can count toward your 40-hour pro bono requirement.

Announcements of Competitions, Opportunities, etc.

Other Local Environmental Law Societies

It might be worthwhile to set up a Association of Greater Los Angeles Environmental Law Societies (AGLAELS). The purpose would be to encourage networking and connections among the memberships of the ELSs, and to maintain a common listing of environmental-law events.
